My Hometown-Jhansi

In Uncategorized on October 20, 2010 by girlsiwise

I come from the historic land of Jhansi, the kingdom of Rani Laxmibai. Jhansi is a medium-sized city in south-central Uttar Pradesh. It lies in the plateau region and historically, it is a very important place mainly due to its brave queen. This place played a very important role in the uproar of 1857, India’s first attempt to gain freedom from the British rule. Jhansi’s rich history has made it a tourist attraction and tourists are mainly attracted to the fort of Jhansi which still stands tall, even after about 150 years of its facing the British attack.

FORT OF JHANSI

As a city, Jhansi is a very peaceful place with very little traffic problems and good places to spend the weekends. My favourite feature of my city is the easy going, peace-loving population of Jhansi. =) These people make Jhansi a very peaceful place to live in.
As far as my education goes, I had a helluva fun at school. My school life is one worth cherishing. I met the best of people in my school life. I made some of my best friends there, who will be with me always. At school, I was always one of the most obedient students, and a front-bencher! =)
I listened to each and every word of the teacher (unlike now ;)) and was the favourite of all the teachers (yes, I’m bragging :p). I had always wanted to be an engineer, and I had full support of my family in this decision. They made my life so easy that I promised myself that I would definitely clear JEE if not for me, then for them. And finally, somehow when I cleared the JEE, I landed up in IIT Ropar, and I’m so thankful that I did (and, this is not a lie =)).
Life since then has been a marvel. Here, I’ve learnt so many things that have helped me to develop as a person and I know these four years would transform me into a wonderful young lady. After completing my degree, I’ve thought of taking the Indian Administrative examinations because I seriously feel that India has had enough corrupt administrators, and it’s time that we change. I know, that only one person thinking this way won’t make much of a difference, but someone has to start thinking, and that someone might as well be me =)
